If you are convicted of a DUI in Clearwater, Pinellas County, the court may order your vehicle to be impounded or immobilized as a condition of your probation. This immobilization will occur once any court ordered incarceration is complete. Immobilization of your vehicle can be waived by the court if your family has no other means of transportation. If immobilization is not waived, the length of the immobilization will depend upon your prior DUI history. For a first DUI conviction in Clearwater, the court will order immobilization of your vehicle for 10 days through an immobilization agency. A second DUI conviction within 5 years will result in a 30 day immobilization. Your vehicle will be immobilized for 90 days upon conviction of a third or subsequent DUI within a 10 year period. You will be responsible for all costs and fees associated with this consequence. DUI convictions in Clearwater can be costly and create unforeseen inconveniences to your life.
